It is with sadness that we have learned of the death of Sue Style, author of the recent book on Switzerland entitled "The Landscape of Swiss Wine". Sue Style was appreciated by the producers she attended, warm and endearing personality, she was an honest observer of the wine world.

Swiss winegrowers certainly had their moment in the spotlight on October 24th. Following on from 2018's historic vintage, there were no less than 3254 wines entered in the Grand Prix du Vin Suisse 2019. Of the 544 wineries who entered, around 80 made the short list, and only 39 won awards at the Gala du Vin Suisse. La Cave de la Côte is certainly no stranger to awards ceremonies but this is the first time it has ever won the coveted title of Swiss Winery of the Year 2019.

The Swiss Wine Gala is always a high point of the year, and this year's event was no exception, coming at the end of an outstanding harvest and attended by 440 guests.

Wednesday August 29 at 11:30 am marks the official start date of the collaboration project between the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles and the CMB Aigle 2019 association. Baudouin Havaux, chairman of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, and Frédéric Borloz, Mayor of Aigle, will sign the official agreement at Brussels City Hall. The ceremony takes place under the supervision of Marion Lemesre, Alderman for Economic Affairs for the city of Brussels.

Grand Prix du Vin Suisse co-organisers VINEA Association and Vinum magazine are delighted to announce the 2018 edition of the leading competition for Swiss wines, to be held June 25th – 30th.

No less than 2867 wines will be tasted in Sierre by 158 judges, and there are 32 more entries than in last year's competition, despite the fact that the 2017 harvest was the lowest in 40 years. 

Switzerland Tourism (ST) and Swiss Wine Promotion Ltd (SWP) have entered into a partnership aiming at enhancing the value of Swiss wine tourism and wine products. This partnership will allow both organizations to benefit from numerous synergies to optimize the reputation of Swiss wines and Switzerland as a wine tourism destination.

Once again ProWein will open for three days from March 18 through 20, 2018 in Düsseldorf. This international wine trade fair is exclusively reserved for professionals. It has been organized since 1994 by the Messe Düsseldorf Group, and has become, over the years, together with Vinexpo, the major event for international operators and decision-makers in the wine and spirits sector.

The stars of the Swiss wine scene were announced at the Gala dinner held in Bern, attended by Switzerland's major players. Of the 78 short-listed wines from across the country, 39 were award winners, carrying off the first, second and third place prizes given for each of the 13 categories. This year, all of Switzerland's wine regions won awards, with canton Valais winning 6 of the competition's 13 categories. Les Frères Dutruy (Founex, VD) took the highly-coveted prize of Swiss Winery of the Year 2017.
