ProWein is the largest international wine fair for professionals currently taking place in Düsseldorf, Germany. Swiss Wine had carefully planned its presence there since Germany is the largest export market for Swiss wines.

“At Prowein we do not simply exhibit, it is the ultimate step of an annual cycle during which we literally walk the country in Germany" says Gilles Besse, president of Swiss Wine Promotion.

Bern, March 7, 2017. Following the previous years success, the Swiss Wine Week will gain further momentum this year as it becomes part of a permanent project to link Swiss Wine producers and Restaurants.

The promotion weeks this year are set in conjonction with the "Semaine du Goût" from September 1 through September 24.

VINEA Association presented a review of its 2016 activities at its Annual General Meeting. The Association remains true to its aim of being a dynamic, multi-skilled player promoting Swiss wines, and a leader in the organisation of wine competitions. The first edition of VINEA On Tour held in Zurich lived up to members' expectations and thus the committee plans to repeat and further develop this event. After more than seven years as president of the Association, François Murisier handed over the baton to David Genolet, director of FVS Group.

Swiss wine in 60 portraits

Since 2015, VINEA has published a brochure each year featuring 60 producers chosen from amongst the 500 Swiss companies included in the VINEA Swiss Wine app. VINEA's third brochure presents a fascinating mosaic of Swiss wine craftspeople. The VINEA brochure and app are two promotional tools which are available completely free of charge, showcasing the men and women who are proudly carrying forward Swiss viticulture.

Marie-Thérèse Chappaz, Jean-René Germanier, Martin Donatsch, Thomas Studach, Tom Litwan, Christian Zündel, Cantina Monti and Jacques Tatasciore have all received between 93 and 97 Parker points - a real first for Switzerland.

The Institute of Masters of Wine (IMW) in London is pleased to announce Swiss Wine has become a Supporter of the Institute.

The 20th contest for "Best Sommelier in Switzerland 2016" took place this Sunday, October 30, in Geneva. Thirty years after the first Ruinart Trophy in 1986, the Beau-Rivage Hotel hosted this anniversary edition.

The Mondial des Pinots 2016 awards reflect the excellent quality of wines made from Pinot Noir and other Pinot grapes. The competition, which is for wines made only from grapes in the Pinot family, offers a good indication of how well these grow in greatly different regions around the world.
